WHAT WE DO
PROMOTING LIFE SAFETY, INCIDENT STABILITY, ENVIRONMENTAL AND PROPERTY PRESERVATION FOR NOT ONLY OUR FIREFIGHTERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS BUT THE CITIZENS THEY SERVE.
Through the years, friends and families of firefighters have always been there to lend a helping hand.
In 2014, we decided to make it official. So began the Coal Grove Fire Department Auxiliary.
What do we do?
The Coal Grove Fire Department Auxiliary provides non-firefighting support for members of the Coal Grove Fire Department. This means we do more than just bring water!
On scene, Auxiliary members can: change out breathing air bottles on air packs, provide firefighter rehab, assist with personnel accountability, serve as “scribes” for the HazMat Team. This allows a certified firefighter to do what they are trained to do. Yes, we even help clean equipment back at the station.
We also:
provide meals/snacks and drinks to all personnel during extended times on scene or during extreme conditions.
provide small items that the department may need such as batteries for equipment or smoke alarms, cleaning supplies, food for meetings and training and even purchase small tools and equipment,
help organize and participate in Fire Prevention events and presentations.
participate in various Community Events such as the Village Christmas Parade, Trick or Treat/Trunk or Treat and the Memorial Day Parade.
Why do we do it?
Our reasons for “volunteering” aren’t much different than those of the firefighters; “to serve my town”, “I want to help my community”, “I want to help people”, “My way of helping those who help others.” It is a bonus to be part of a great team of people that you consider family.
We do participate in various trainings: CPR/AED, First Aid, Stop the Bleed, Hands on Equipment, Active Shooter, HazMat: Ops and Awareness, Table Top Exercises and Mock Disasters
It’s better to have the training and not need it than to need it and not have it.
We function solely on funds from fundraising and donations.
WE PROVIDE NON-FIREFIGHTING SUPPORT FOR FIREFIGHTERS AND OUR COMMUNITY.
